Edisto Island is a unique gem of the SC Lowcountry's ACE Basin

Edisto Island Preservation Alliance (EIPA) works with multiple organizations on Edisto Island to make sure it stays that way.  Edisto Island is a sea island lying within the large tidal basin where the Ashepoo, Combahee and Edisto Rivers converge creating the ACE Basin as they complete their journey to the Atlantic Ocean.   The multiple habitats in this area caused The Nature Conservancy to name it one of the Last Great Places in America.

Edisto Island is laced with tidal creeks for fishing, crabbing, shrimping, and boating; preserved land for hiking, birdwatching, and biking; and beautiful, unspoiled beaches loved by families for generations. With your help, we aim to preserve this extraordinary sea island.

EIPA strongly supports Botany Bay Wildlife Management Area and has worked with the community to get our main highway, Hwy. 174, designated as the Edisto Island National Scenic Byway. We are also working to make our Beach and Island more “Turtle-Friendly” by certifying businesses who limit the use of plastics here. Learn more about these projects here
