In 2007, EIPA was formed as an alliance by nine broadly based Edisto Island ‘SISTER’ organizations including the Community Association (EICA), the Edisto Museum (EIHPS), the Edisto Island Open Land Trust (EIOLT), The town of Edisto Beach and the Edisto Beach Property Owners Association (EBPOA).

EIPA now operates independently as a 501(c)(3) corporation under the governance of a board of directors, many of whom serve on the boards of our 'sister' Edisto community organizations.  EIPA serves as Edisto's quick-response environmental and planning watchdog reaching out to our partners when threats occur. We continuously monitor zoning and other conservation issues involving governmental agencies and take action when the rural and natural resources of Edisto are threatened.

 Our Mission

EIPA’s mission is to preserve Edisto Island’s rural and agricultural way of life through community driven growth control and proactive initiatives to preserve its historical and cultural heritage, its ecosystems, and its natural beauty.

Our Vision

Our vision for Edisto is a community that remains rural, natural and diverse and supports a creative rural economy for its citizens.
